Jochen Steuber is an experienced Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in cost management, project delivery and team leadership. With a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying with Distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, Jochen has built a successful career across several continents with a strong foundation in both technical and managerial aspects of the field.
Jochen has almost 20 years’ experience in estimating, budgeting and feasibility, value engineering, procurement consultancy and overall cost control. His management experience includes positions such as Associate Director at Turner & Townsend, where he was part of the Hamburg management team and led cost management efforts across Germany.
Jochen’s career highlights include managing major projects such as the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto Campus Development and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, as well as tenant fit-outs for high-profile technology clients in Germany. His experience ranges from pre- to post-contract services, with a deep understanding of both local and international construction environments.
In addition to his technical skills, Jochen is a dedicated mentor with a proven track record in business development, internal financial control and corporate governance. He is fluent in both German and English, with a working knowledge of Afrikaans, and continues to enhance his professional development through courses in Agile Project Management, Finance and more.
Jochen is based in Hamburg, Germany, where he lives with his wife and two children. His dual citizenship in Germany and South Africa, combined with his diverse project experience, brings a global perspective to his work.
