Kathia Román Reina works as a Senior Consultant ESG & Sustainability in our Berlin office. She has worked in the construction sector both for private and public clients for more than 10 years. Kathia is passionate about the sustainability of built assets and infrastructure, including green building certification systems, climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Since 2012, she is qualified as a LEED GA (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Associate) and a BREEAM In-Use Auditor for DACH Region.
Kathia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture and urban planning from the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil, where she also participated in an exchange program from the School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid in Spain. In Germany, Kathia continued with her Master of Science in resource efficiency in architecture and planning from the Hafen City University, Hamburg. She conducted her master thesis research in Asia, where her work focused on CO2emissions from the construction sector, their impact on climate change and the related legal framework on different governmental levels to address this urgent issue. An MBA in Sustainable Construction and an MBA in Integrated Buildings’ Project Management, both with final works targeting green buildings, round up her profile.
Kathia is an Alumna of the Deutschland STIPENDIUM, from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and from Pioneers into Practice – Climate KIC from the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).
As a communicative person, Kathia enjoys sharing best practices and acquiring further knowledge. For these reasons, she constantly takes part in technical courses and joins congresses as a speaker. She looks forward to challenging and innovative projects in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. Additionally, she is a volunteer peer reviewer for several Green Building Councils.
Kathia is a Spanish and Portuguese native speaker, is fluent in business English, fluent in German and has a basic knowledge of Italian.
