Joining TA Europe in March 2018, Alice is based in our Berlin Office and is a valuable part of the Technical Due Diligence and wider technical advisory team.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree from the University College of Estate Management in 2017, Alice is now working towards the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to gain ‘Chartered Surveyor’ (MRICS) status within the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), with a programme of structured and supervised practical training, which will be mentored by a Chartered Surveyor (Fellow) and senior colleagues within TA Europe, as part of her professional experience and development.
The APC and becoming chartered with the RICS is a key milestone in any surveyor’s professional development, as a level at which competence and expertise can be proven. In the case of Alice, after completing an accredited degree, the next stage is completing 2-3 years of APC structured training and ‘on the job’ learning, concluding with the formal Assessment, which consists of interview and assessment of a case study and the overall work experience up to that point in time.
Along with practical training and maintaining a diary of her experience and structured learning, via the Assessment Resource Centre (ARC) online tool from the RICS, there is a further requirement as part of the APC process for Alice to meet the minimum of 48 hours of necessary continued professional development (CPD) each year, as well as prepare and submit quarterly reports which formally record her work experience.
Alice is fully supported by TA Europe staff in not only Berlin but by colleagues in our other offices in Essen, Munich, Brussels and Madrid. Up until now, in only three months, Alice has been able to experience and be an active part in an array of interesting commissions for property investor and owner clients, of not only existing buildings but also new build construction sites, which will be valuable for her training and professional experience.
This early insight into the property and construction industry has included being part of the TA Europe team attending final inspection and handover meetings at recently completed HQ offices in Leipzig, to Technical Due Diligence surveys of a historic building in Hamburg, to project monitoring site inspections of the shell and core construction of new care home buildings near Hannover, as well as ‘desktop’ cost reinstatement assessments of office buildings for insurance purposes.
You can follow Alice’s progress and professional development here, with updates to be provided every three months.
TA Europe is keen to support all staff in their professional development and ensure the highest level of competence and motivation, within the company and in all of our professional work and services.
